What Financial Incentives are being offered for solar?
The solar markets are always changing. There can be city, county, state, or federal level incentives that are offered in your area. In short, if you reach out to us one of our expert sales representatives can tell you exactly what financial incentives are available to you.
How long does a solar system last?
Most solar panels and equipment are warrantied by manufacturers for 25-years, that’s why you’ll hear businesses in the solar industry refer to the “life of a system” as 25-years. But, system will continue to produce power long after that, there are still active solar systems from the 1970’s!
Is the 30% Federal Tax Credit still available?
For residentially owned systems, unfortunately not. For commercial solar systems, yes the tax credit is available until December 31, 2027. There are still ways to benefit from the tax credit through solar PPA or Leases. A member of our sales team can help you understand the difference between owning and leasing a solar system.
What kind of regular maintenance do solar systems have?
Very little. You don’t have to clean solar panels, shovel snow off of them, or provide upkeep on the wiring / panels / racking. The tilt of the modules allows them to be cleaned from rain. Snow will slip off once the sun is out and warms the panels. Systems are warranted by manufacturers, combined with our in-house workmanship warranty allows for stress free clean energy production.
Will I still be connected to the utilities electric grid?
Yes, in nearly all scenarios you will remain connected to the grid, that works in unison with your solar system to provide power for your home. There are options to disconnect entirely from the power grid, which requires large battery bank systems.
Should I replace my roof before installing solar?
It depends on the condition of your current roof. The solar panels protect the roofing material from UV rays, increasing their longevity. We will analyze the condition of the roof during the initial site survey and have roofing partners we can refer if it is determined that is the best course of action.
How much does solar cost?
The cost of a solar system is determinant on the homes specific conditions; roof space available, roof orientation, roof pitch, existing electrical equipment, how much energy the home consumes, energy habits. In other words, its tough to generalize. You will generally see numbers varying between $2.50 – $ 3.50 per watt. Meaning a 5kW system can cost between $14,500 – $17,500. How long does the solar process take?
It varies by jurisdiction, but we can generally expect it to take 6-8 weeks from a signed contract to the solar system being installed and operational.
Will solar really save money compared to just paying for my electric bill?
In most cases, yes. While the upfront cost can appear significant compared to a monthly electric bill, solar is an investment. Rather than paying the utility companies and letting them control the rates, you can know exactly how much you’ll pay every month for the life of the system.
